Nightclub shooting mystery continues

NEWS BRIEFS
Gwen Sadler

In the early morning hours of Dec. 26, someone fired shots outside a nightclub during a private party. Not only is the identification of the shooter a mystery, so is that of the victim.

According to police, an officer was patrolling in the Rox-C's Steakhouse and Cabaret parking lot at about 1 a.m. when he heard gunshots, which had apparently been fired into a crowd outside the club. The officer called for assistance, then tried to control the panicked crowd. He also attempted to stop a few men from running away, but was unable to do so.

On investigation, police found a large amount of blood at the scene, but no guns, no suspects and no victims.

According to nightclub owner Ginger Lemocks, the incident took place entirely outside the club, where a private Christmas party was taking place. She was unsure whether those involved had been at the party. Though details of the shooting remain a mystery, police did arrest two men at the scene - one for disorderly conduct and another for public intoxication.

Victim makes right choice

A woman returning to her car in the parking lot of a gas station convenience store in the 4200 block of Beulah Road did the right thing when she gave up her car keys to a couple of thieves.

At about 9:10 p.m. on Dec. 21, the woman had just left the store with her purchases when two men charged at her from the stairwell of a church next to the store. They demanded her car keys. The victim dropped her keys and ran back into the store as the men drove away in her car.

The suspects are both described as black males, 15-25 years old. The victim's stolen car is a 2006 blue Honda coupe.
