Luckily, it was nothin' but air

Gwen Sadler

The victim of an attempted armed robbery who decided to fight back got lucky recently when his attacker couldn't shoot straight - or chose not to.

The victim was walking near his home in the 4000 block of Chippendale Court in the Squire Hill Apartments at about 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 21 when two men, one of them holding a handgun, demanded he give them his money. The victim grabbed the gun and struggled with his assailants, who managed to take his cash. But some good fortune was with the victim. The gun-wielding suspect fired a shot into the air, injuring no one. Both suspects then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of the victim's money.

The suspects are both described as black males, 18-25 years old. Both men wore dark clothing.
